Again with the topic of performance spaces, I thought it would be a great idea to write about the work of a group of people that have been doing it for a few years. The group is Improv Everywhere, a comedy performance group that carry out 'pranks' or entertaining, improvised scenes, or 'missions' as the called them, in random public places
I find this idea very interesting, as it brings a number of different fields together. On one aspect, it's a perfect social experiment, seeing how random people react to unexpected occurrences, all comical in nature, of course. But it's also an art project, and a great show.
It's just another way of people coming up with creative ways of entertaining others, in this case complete strangers, while in public places.
This is their video of their latest 'mission', carried out just this Juyly inside the NYC Subway. I find it absolutely intriguing to see people's reaction.
I recommend checking out their site (improveverywhere.com) for their previous "missions"
