SketchUp, you might be making an enemy soon.
I've been working in google SketchUp and I have to say although I don't think my museum is going to be top-quality-get-hired-automatically-at-a-design-firm-work (yes I am aware this is the typical "not good enough" SBU attitude) I think I'm getting much better at this. I've been taking apart a Russian mansion I found using the explode function, resizing it and adding it to my half Guggenheim Museum/alleyway and personally, I think it looks pretty cool. Whether or not the class will think so- well I suppose I like it, so I hope you do too, but I won't cry if you don't. It gets really hard though with all the various functions and sometimes I accidently click something and literally want to scream when it messes up something I've been working on for about an hour. It happened twice already, and I'm totally going to admit I screamed at the wall or any available object that could not retaliate. I've been working on this project right now because I'm still not exactly sure what I want to do with the video yet even though it's due Wednesday. I feel like I'm behind schedule since I have 2 midterms on Tuesday, one on Weds, the video and blogs due Weds, and it's my birthday then too. Happy birthday to me! Awesome week, right? I considered doing this blog as a video since I really liked that concept, but considering the way I look right now I'll spare everyone the visual horror of me looking like Cousin It's swamp sister (since I have yet to dress or get ready in ANY sort of way since I've been studying, reading, and playing with this program all morning, what a delicious visual.) I have to say even though I grumbled with the best of them in class about the ridiculous amount of time its taking me to learn to use these programs, and even though SketchUp is really getting on my last nerve, I do think it is a really cool and creative program and I'm glad i was introduced to it although I may revise my opinion if it keeps on screwing me over and messing up the design I want. Right now my biggest worry really is the grade though. Just because I like something doesn't mean it's going to be evaluated as good and I can't afford to mess up my GPA and get a bad grade right now. I've already put about 5 hours into this museum, but to me it really doesn't look like 5 hours worth of work and that's a problem. I'm going to try to post some pictures of it soon, so i hope some people will let me know what they think, although I know most people don't read anyone else blog and just do their own.
