Language in Shakespeare
In one of the lectures, it was said that Shakespeare uses very flowery language and says the same thing multiple times. I am not denying this because I've read some works of Shakespeare's and I have seen this for myself. The thing I don't get is why does he do this? What is wrong with just sticking to deep and interesting dialogue between the characters? Describing sometimes insignificant items or events in the play does not make sense to me. Sure theater was not the same back then as it is today, but some of the flowery descriptions seem unnecessary.
