I have never really been a fan of foreign movies. Its not that I have anything against other cultures, its just that I find subtitles to be very annoying. I actually enjoyed watching Onibaba in class this week though. It had all of the right elements to it. It was dark and mysterious, but had some action (cheesy action, but film quality wasn't the same in the 60s as it is now.)
Professor Baldwin kept mentioning the lighting and some of the camera angles chosen. I have to agree and say that the shots are phenomenal. The dark lighting adds to the mystery and drama of the story. Everything about this movie works and I really enjoyed watching it.
