Rutgers Event

As I've seen other posts on this matter, I would like to put my own 2 cents onto this event. Most of us I'm sure have seen the tragedies surrounding cyber bullying in the past like that case in Missouri (I believe) where a girl hanged herself after a person she knew just a few blocks down from her house was pretending to be a boy, and spew horrible things about her after getting close to her. Almost the exact same thing happened in this case if you break it down: people who the guy knew played a "prank" on him, which turned out to be much more than a harmless joke. The key difference was that while the Missouri case was more private and vengeful, the Rutgers case took on a more casual "college-life prank" tone. Nevertheless, the end result was the same in both cases. Being gay made him an easy target for his friends who apparently are still not tolerant of his relationship lifestyle. The news report also mentioned other similar cases of the victim being gay, and being the ploy of another dirty prank or bullying incident. Whenever we have events like these, it only goes to show how as much as someone can prod around of humanity's "advancements", we are still very much animals inside all of us.
