Unexpected malfunctions

So when i came home from school today i went to turn on my laptop to finish up my midterm project. I had pretty much finished both the performance space and the room design. However the laptop no longer turns on. An error message telling me the computers fan is broken keeps appearing so i can't do anything with that laptop at all. I had also never put the designs onto a flash drive or portable hardrive so everything i had worked on was lost. I had to start all over today...Luckily i was able to get both of them done on time. This experience just gives me a reason to go out and buy that laptop I've been wanting. The computer i had was a very old computer, i mean it was running windows XP so anything new is going to be great.
