Foldit

I just looked into the program, Foldit and it seems really cool. When it was first mentioned in class I thought it was just something to do for fun to kill some time. After going to the website, I see that there are good motives behind it. It allows anyone who is willing to contribute to important scientific research. That's a pretty cool concept. If you were able to cure some disease as a result of a protein you made on Foldit, that's quite an accomplishment. HIV/AIDS, Cancer and Alzheimer's are a few of the diseases that they discuss on the website. They inform the people how proteins play a huge role. This seems like a very good cause and I believe this is one of the many usually ways we should use computers. If we have the technology to potentially cure diseases, why not use it?
