Onibaba Hamartia
I believe the mother in Onibaba had a hamartia and it was the constraints of the structure of the society that she lost in this civil war. She was living with her daughter in law barely getting through the days just waiting for her son to come back from war. Why does she need to wait for a male to provide for her, when she can provide for herself? If she was determined she could explore the grasslands and study her landscape and figure out other ways to provide for the both of them. They could fish in the river and start a fire but they believe that only a male can do that for them, not realizing that they possess the potential to do so themselves. Not only would they be recieving food from this man for the armor, but they would also be eating that with a little fish. Being resourceful isn't a male trait.
