Guilt

The plays of Hamlet and Onibaba showed very strong representation of Guilt, since both of the main characters in the play expressed regret and guilt to a certain extent. Although people's personalities may suppress guilt on themselves they may easily give others the feeling of guilt because of their cruel and most likely non optimistic actions toward a situation. Sometimes regret and guilt seem to appear in oneself due to one's own mind is creating a fault for themselves. This type of action is normal in those with too much care for others, or feel the need to be extremely nice to everyone without thinking about their own feelings. Even unconscious actions of not paying attention or spacing out can cause a moment of guilt or regret without even intentionally being hurtful to someone else.

Sunset Yin & Yang

This is one of the snapshots from my sunset video. I think it represents the concept of yin & yang in a way that you can see the distinct separation of land and sky but then you find the atmospheric effect by the setting sun combining the two. Since yin & yang means opposite objects, the sunset is partnered with the sunrise but in this, I saw that the sunset became the link between 2 opposing elements - land and sky.

Texture Videos

These are all videos about water movement. The other night, on campus, I noticed that the lights were up near the fountain. I could've taken the video while the sun was up but the artificial light, the green light especially, creates a different atmosphere direct sunlight couldn't.

Mystical Bond between Man and Machine...

I love cars. My first car was a 99 camry that was given to me by my dad that had prior problems with it. He had replaced the tranny on that car one too many times. I then got a 99 Galant pre modded, and that needed a tad of money to be perfect and then i got into an accident where i drifted, hit curb and broke 2 axels, and 2 rims, bumper and hood. That I fixed up.

Then I popped the hood thinking it was the trunk and forgot to close the hood so i started driving and hood flew up and smashed my windsheild... I fixed that up... Then june of 2010 i was driving my friend to get slurpees on her birthday, and as i was making a U-turn someone behind me was speeding and tried avoiding me by going towards incoming traffic and hitting the side of my car, damaging, the bumper, both fenders,Headlights and the hood. I fixed it all up myself. I spent weeks fiberglassing everything up and primering it, sanding, painting, clear coating, the whole schpeel. I even got new 400 healights for the car. It came out beautiful. The car was in it's prime.

3 weeks after completion on the way home from work my dad texts me, and i look down for a split second, look back up and there was a mini van stopped at a red light in front of me. I was going 50mph because it was a major road with lights. I slammed the breaks, pulled the E shifted to neutral, swung it hard to the right, put it back in drive, overrided the E, and ended up just hitting the rear corner of his car but smashing in my front end. After knicking the car i went into a store landscaping. I received some frame damage, on the drivers side, along with busted headlight, Fender, and hood. All of which i had previously fixed. After the accident happened i realized i didn't hook up the airbag sensors because the airbags didn't deploy. The driver i hit happened to be a mechanic , and a police actually saw the whole accident. Both of which odly enough complimented my driving saying, that if had driven like anyone else, i probably would've been dead, and that the other driver would've been seriously injured.
The car today is still running and parked in my garage until i have time and money and equipment to reinvest into it. I was driving my dads Honda Odessy for some time and Juts recently i got A pontiac G6. I have quite a few plans for this car. But again. only when i have time or money will i invest it in these cars. I love my cars, and i honestly hope to never let go of any of my cars. There is no reason to. So let's invite the latest member into our family... Ain't she a beaut.

AutotuneMagic.com

So when i got my ipad the first thing i did was download the "I AM T-PAIN APP" because i was told it was the "To Have app" if you had an iphone, ipad, or ipod touch. So i got it and at first i didn't realize the potential of the program, but after playing with it a bit i see how much of a powerful tool it can be. So seeing how the Autotune world has been ever so expanding, I decided to make a website called . When this site is completed users will be able to create an account, Login, and be able to post their Auto-Tune Creations online to be heard, viewed, and rated by other users.

I hope to one day be able to have it set up so that people can actually use the service online, and post directly through there, or even get a program developed for auto-tune, and make it friendly to this website.

New Production

Hey there THR 216.

So i'm a busy guy tackling one too many projects. All of which have very rewarding results. And so I ran into another opportunity to spur up another project which has a very high return rate if excecuted correctly. I have collaborated with MC King Freeze. He used to be a local rapper in Florida. He actuall won freestyle competitions and is well known down south for what he does. He moved to New York sometime ago and has put his rap career on pause. I have taken it upon myself to get him noticed and up on his feet. I'm currently undergoing a marketing scheme right now to make this Young and very high potential rapper explode. If you would like to check him out check the site i made for him at . It's currently under construction but at least you can see a taste of whats to come.

Proud to be in EOP.

When I thought about what to write for my article, one thing kept coming to mind is to talk about how I am able to write in this paper now. I owe this to the Education Opportunity Program also known as EOP/AIM. Founded on the campus of Stony Brook University in 1968 with “The purpose of the Educational Opportunity Program is to fulfill New York State’s commitment to provide access to higher education for economically disadvantaged students who possessed the potential to succeed in college, but whose academic preparation in high school has not fully prepared them to pursue college education successfully.” I chose to write about the program because this year PBS did an 8-minute documentary on the program reason being Stony Brook University graduates 65 percent of its Hispanic students and 70 percent of its Black student population this is largely due to the EOP/AIM program. I had the opportunity to be apart of the video process this summer during the 5 week program which you have to go though in order to earn your admission to Stony Brook with completion of the program you earn 6 free credits towards graduation, I was one of the Head Peer Advising Tutor of the summer academy. What a lot of people do not know about the program is that it isn’t a free ride which you hear a lot from students who aren’t in the program, being in the program my self I have had a balance on my account every semester I know majority of the EOP students can relate with me on that. Do not get me wrong we do have special services that are provided such as a tutorial service which is free, a computer lab of our own which is located in our office on the 3rd floor of the Melville library. I recently sat down with one of the counselors which happen to mine Jarvis Watson and asked him if there was one thing you would like to see while you’re here as a counselor change what would that be. His responds was right to the point he told me he wanted 100 percent retention rate for the program but most importantly he stressed that the EOP students who are already apart of the program to don’t let it slip away from them. Meaning stay apart of the family that EOP has built don’t forget your roots, it is all well and good to get involved in other organizations and clubs on campus but whenever you hear about an EOP if you aren’t doing anything you should be there for support because it is this program that got majority of the Latino/Black students to graduation. EOP is a very powerful programs on this campus that have open the doors for leaders on this campus from USG Presidents to leaders of other clubs and orgs and members of fraternity’s and sorority’s. I felt as a student of the program I had to pay my respects. You can check out the video on the Stony Brook website and type in EOP/AIM.

Men.

I am onto you, before you even open your mouth to speak, I can already read your mind. I saw your jaw drop when I walked in, you watched me as I waited on line, and now that I sat across from you because I had no choice, I know you keep looking over your shoulder at me. You keep talking to your friends about me, the girl sitting next to you wants you so badly, but you're blind. She's probably lovely, and sadly, you'll never know.

So I put my headphones in, hoping to get you to stop staring at me. While you're feeling fireworks, I'm feeling goosebumps and wondering if I should notify security that you're about to go crazy. I'm sorry little fella, but I already have a man. I could always use more friends, but frankly you just make me uncomfortable. We will never be romantic although I do take the staring as a compliment.

Close those baby blues before they pop out of your head and go on your merry way. Scamper off and find a new girl to stare at.

Ying-Yang

My posts have been jumping around a lot lately, i have most of them on this user name but i also have 2 on the globalcivicmedia2 user name. I figure since most of my blogs are already on this user name i might as well put everything onto this one. Anyway onto the actual post. In class the professor talked about the balance of things or the sort of ying-yang. Where one thing complements the other in a way that is very appealing. Previous to talking about this in class i had not given it much thought. I had always known it was there but never really paid much attention to it. Now that i am more aware of it i see it more often. A lot of times when I'm walking into a building, the way the building interacts with the environment or the way the light reflects off the surface of the building. Overall i feel that as we talk about more and more things in this class i see things much differently. At time the professor can talk about things that are really out there. But in the end they really make you think and see the world differently from your previous perspective.

Game

It's either A or F just like winners or losers in the game. It can be one team getting A's or one individual. The game was pretty simple but hard to trust others. There was also a spy from another team in my team A. I couldn't post these photo immediately because the passworld has been changed. If it was a million dollar game, I doubt that there might be many rogues. There were approximately 20 students in each team. So either getting 50 grand per person or could win a million dollar by rogue.

Sunset - Raw

I thought I should post the raw video of my Sunset video I posted earlier.

With this, you can clearly see the changes of the sky in a span of 20 minutes.
While I was editing this with Windows Live Movie Maker, I used the "Visual Effects" available in the program to create the effects seen in the other video. I saw that they showed the textures of the sunset I wanted others to see.

Sunset

I finally finished the short clip of my version of textures of time. I shortened the recorded video from 20 minutes to a minute. The actual "texture" parts are really unsteady and they might hurt your eyes a bit because I was recording the whole thing free hand, apologies.

Textures of Time

Ever since we were assigned to find "evidences" of textures of time, I was thinking what constituted it. I could never fully grasp the idea of time having a texture - after all, time is not something physical. That's what I thought. Time affects everything and it affects us. It is only through the passage of time that we can see changes and movements. So I thought, if it is time we are looking at, why not observe the most basic but fundamental evidence of time? It's something humans have used centuries ago to keep track of time. No, not the sundial but the sun. I wanted to record the movement of the sun when it is most striking and beautiful - the sunset. (I've thought of dawn too but I just wasn't up to the task of waking at 5 or 6 in the morning - who would?)

So yesterday, I watched the sun set on campus. The sky was clear and it wasn't too cold. We chose a spot behind the stadium grounds. I had my camera and my phone to catch the moment. I brought a friend with me to take the pictures with the point-and-shoot camera while I take the video with my iPhone. We started filming at 5:55pm (according to the Web, sunset in Stony Brook would be at 5:58pm). The battery of the point-and-shoot camera ran out after 5 minutes. I had to hold my phone as steady as I could for who knows how long without making so much noise so my phone wouldn't catch it. It definitely wasn't looking good.

After exactly 20 minutes, I stopped recording because my arms were getting numb and I was starting to shake (I should've used a tripod but I wasn't thinking that ahead). But all that wasn't for naught. I knew I caught a really good footage (minus the shakes) when halfway through the filming, I saw the most amazing thing - the atmospheric effect by the setting sun. It was so beautiful I kept on mouthing to my friend (remember I was afraid to make any sounds?) the words, "OMG! That is pretty!"

So yeah, I downloaded the video and the pictures in my computer to post on this blog but an idea came to my mind: rather than just posting the pictures and video, I'll mix 'em together and make a short presentation. 'Til later.

Performance Space Video

Close-up video of the lines and depth of my performance space. I used the "cammo" style here.

Experiment

For the experiment professor had us do last Thursday. I wasn’t there but I heard what happened. Honestly I thought the whole idea was interesting and I knew someone would either go rogue or do something to make sure they would win. I didn’t think Chris would go as far as changing the password but all’s fair in love and war- or at least when it comes to getting an A or F. I figured that it wasn’t going be for a real grade but that was a good test. The professor had a good point in saying that the main goal was to satisfy what he wanted and i can see how when it comes to winning it can be easy to forget that. I just want to say good job to both teams.-J. Ramsey

Don Juan

Don Juan…….an interesting story. I have to say the funniest part was the ending. I felt for Sganerelle on having everyone else get what they want except for him. I also liked how Elvire’s brothers were out looking for Don Juan’s head for screwing their sister over. I would have done the same thing for mine. One thing about this play that I didn’t understand was the whole “Heaven” concept. I didn’t know if it was a person or a thing then near the end it might have been a statue? Other than that I enjoyed the play for the most part because I felt the whole story was leading up to something.-J. Ramsey

Old Aristotle

Aristotle’s Poetics described his view on tragedy. He viewed tragedy as a serious representation of actions and speeches done by the characters of the play. This was done to portray emotions of pity and terror. I agree with his interpretation of tragedy in most aspects. By using a characters speech it shows their emotions in an oral form. The same can be said for what a character does. Actions speak louder than words and for an author, delivering the emotions of your story or play is done best by a characters actions. In addition to this I believe an author can use a character’s thoughts as an even more powerful tool. Thoughts express what both words and actions express. In fact, I think of thoughts as a combination of both speech and actions. When a character expresses their thoughts it gives the reader or audience a deeper insight to their emotions. In fact, I believe Aristotle knew this as well but decided not to include it in his poetics.-J. Ramsey

Halloween

so this past weekend i was talking to my mother about Halloween, how was it when she was growing up. The women tells me the same but way more safer of course because everything is about violence in the times we live in now. Even growing up as a child i never enjoyed halloween because for one i did not eat candy never have never will, also it was scary i wasn't into all that scary stuff when i was younger because that's the only thing my mother would watch in the house and i used to be just scared for my life for Freddy in them. So this halloween i thought maybe i should dress up and see what the hype is about so on Friday i went to buy me a lil Rastafarian hat and that was it. i brought it because you got a discount into the party i was going to which was horrible i didn't see the hype at all. I guess because i was never really the halloween type of person o well i do be that party pooper.

Whose the one to blame? Who made life a game? Give to me his name.

I mean can you really blame the guy, woman make man a man.

Was he dazed and distracted?
Why the devil collect?
Why was it banned?
I am tired of all the inner meanings in these pieces.

There is only one, WAKE THE FUCK UP!!!!

Vultures

Why do you come to us as if we are dying, diving to eat off our plate. Get your own damn plate.
I do commend your yearning to stay active and eating to survive.
One question, is it really for us?
I doubt it, not because I'm a pessimist which I am not because I fear you are doing it for yourself.
I do not know.
I wish undergrads were encouraged to unite.
