Aaron D. Neufeld- BLOG #10- “Laxatives in Food”
So there’s been talk that Stony Brook and other SUNY colleges and possibly even other colleges put laxatives in their food. This is done so that if the food is near expired, it won’t get students sick but will instead rush through their system and they will expel it. Whether this is true or not is undetermined but I’m not fond of the idea. It’s smart but at the same time the schools should not be serving their students near expired food or causing their students to frequent the restroom.
If this is true, it gives a bad image to school food. It will cause students like myself to find other means of eating, rather than take that food into my body. However, it can just be a rumor causing these schools to have a bad image. Hopefully that’s all it is because otherwise I’d be surprised if the Board of Health would allow this to continue, especially after it’s been so widely spread and talked about amongst college students and professors in various universities.
