Lemon sucking faces

The professor always likes to make a comment about our "lemon sucking stonybrook" faces that we go into class with. This face, indeed, is usually always present in many faces of students here at stonybrook. However, I dont think its just a Stonybrook University student face. I have experenced this in the city, Brooklyn and Queens. When I was still in high school I lived out here on the island. For the most part, everyone on Long Island is very friendly and when someone is looking at you, you simply smile back and maybe even say hello. However, in the city, that just doesnt fly. At the end of my senior year I moved to Brooklyn where I grew up as a child and started living there with my grandmother. For the first couple of months that I lived there I was working in Downtown Brooklyn. I made the mistake of actually looking at people and smiling at them when they looked at me. Never again would I do that... that got me called all the worse possible names one can ever be called.

Technology of Future

How Theories Crash and Burn

Many Theories today explain tons of information about what we know, but the problem with theories are that even if they are explained and proven-ed, that does not mean there is no way to disprove it. Theories can become fact after a long period of time and that does not mean that everything we think is fact is correct but that one should remember to look outside of a single frame of thought that this had to be right because it was before. A recent discovery has just blown away the physic community on the Standard Model, with the introduction of the 4th neutrino.

Great Article explaining this field of physics where things that seemed so great and factual can easily be overturned.

More ideas for final show

Regarding the final project, I am very on board with the idea of recreating the ending; but during class I was a little unsure of how we would accomplish such a task. Upon further thought I think we should engage the audience and have them interact with the actors and be part of the production as well.
I was thinking that the audience can act as the play within the play. They could put in their own lines as well as their own ideas to what the alternate ending should be. Maybe we could have different set ups around the tank where the audience takes on different roles. Then again, these are just different ideas I am throwing out on the table. If anyone wants to add anything please feel free to comment.
In addition to the alternate ending/play within the play idea, I also liked the idea of translating the novel into words and phrases we use nowadays. Now, I don’t think profanity should be used, but I do think that simplifying the words will make Hamlet more of an enjoyable experience to everyone.
Last but not least, I think that we should definitely let the audience use the Hamlet game interface and see if they enjoy the game as much as we do.

The Social Network

I went and saw the social network with my friends awhile back. When we started talking about it in class I began thinking about it more. The movie is relevent to the topic of our class design and technology because facebook has revolutionized the world. In a way the website is a new technology that has basically designed a new way for people to interact. Nowadays it's even easier for people to meet and talk with one another. The premise of the site however was based on the idea of exclusivity. The idea was that only the best of the best, the select few would be able to use the website. Today however the website is used in many different countries and everyone is allowed to use the website. What once started as a exclusive website is now multi billion dollar company that almost anyone anywhere has a account on.

The movie also inspired me to a certain degree. My major at Stony Brook is computer science, which is the same major that the protagonist, Mark Zukaberg, had at Harvard. After watching the movie it gave me more confidence in my major and made me realise the possibilities and power of the major. Hopefully i can one day make a website, program, application, whatever that will earn me money some day. After all making your own job is far better than chasing after one.

rant

I mostly ranted about what we talked about in class on Tuesday what I agreed or disagreed on.

Mother Courage Irony

Mother Courage is a work against fascism. The background is thirty years' war in Germany. Mother Courage trying to make a living in the war with her three children. The woman who put her whole life on war and run risks all the time, finally end up with tragedy. The "courage" strands for the necessary characteristic of a "nobody" to earn a life in such a big war. Brecht writes about a small potato because he wants to show that war brings nothing good for roughscuff. They are not heroes that recorded in history, but sacrificial lamb in the conflicts. No matter who win, common people always lose the most.

In Mother Courage's opinion, war is a profitable business for big cheeses, and common people like her should share a little bit of the pie, to feed family. But when her children leave her, and daughter hurt, she curses the war. So, first of all, her attitude toward the war is contradictory. She sell stuff which actually support the war, but the war destroys her family. She is a victim and supporter of the war at the same time. And from the beginning to the end, she doesn't learn a lesson in the process, even not recognize that she herself should be responsible for destroying the family. how ironic it is!

rantt

Heres my rant. its about the nba mostly. I wasnt sure what else to talk about.

Reaction to Don Juan

After reading Don Juan it hit me, no matter what there will always be a hell to pay. After reading what Don Juan did, it sickened me. A person should not treat women as if they are some sort of item or object.
To elaborate, I firmly believe that being a womanizer is a disgrace; just as I also believe being a prostitute is a disgrace. It is something nobody should be proud to say they are. In regards to the play, I also believe that we all have a friend like Sganerelle who tells us the right thing to do. Sganerelle is like the angel on our shoulder per se, who tells us right from wrong.
In addition, I believe that Don Juan has no heart and therefore deserved to go to hell; but, I do find it interesting that Moliere decided that heaven swallow Don Juan up into a flaming abyss. It made for an interesting and enjoyable end to the play.
Futhermore, I would like to find out more of what happened to Sganerelle and what happened to him after Don Juan went to hell.

rant

I am having some troubling deciding on what to rant about and even how to go about it. I think im going to try to find someone to ask me questions so I am not just talking to myself. Maybe ill talk about how i don't actually want to talk about anything in this rant. Who knows. Good luck everyone.

I wanna show how i'm working on the texture video.
I combined two short videos with my music.

The Game

After watched the Game, I came up with an idea that movie itself is a game, just like what we see in the Game. Everything in the movie is operated and controlled by director and many other people. They try to move you with their ideas. If they are fortunate enough, they may shake you the part of your world. Same thing here, Douglas, a man that owns everything in the movie, was found his childhood shadow and the biggest bug in his by the company, so people made a lot of scenes and successfully changed his life. Maybe cinema person cannot change people's lives by simply a film, even though it is good enough, but good movies change your mind.

The one who owns everything actually misses one thing, the attitude and recognition of life after rebirth. Every trick the company made up in the film is answering the question, what does he lack of. So as long as people still alive, the game is not over. Maybe someday, film can go beyond the screen, into our lives. Audience like us, will be caught our weaknesses and die after all.

The Social Network

In The Social Network, David Fincher tells the story of the founding of Facebook. And while it might not be totally accurate, it is easily one of the best films of the year.

The Social Network is one of the best movies I have seen all year.

In 2003 Mark Zuckerberg, as portrayed by Zombieland’s Jesse Eisenberg, was a narcissistic, arrogant, and lonely sophomore at Harvard, who was looking to be accepted by the school’s elite in order to have “a better life”. He also happened to be a genius. After a particularly jarring breakup, Zuckerberg pulls off an impressive feat of computer coding, and in the span of a few hours creates Facemash, a website that asked students to choose between two girls and pick the one they thought was better looking. The website lands Zuckerberg in trouble with the school, alienates him with the female student population, but also brings him to the attention of the Winklevoss twins, Cameron and Tyler (both played by Armie Hammer with additional shots using Josh Pence as a stand in), and their partner Divya Narendra (played by Max Minghella).

The trio hire Zuckerberg to help code their website HarvardConnection. The idea was to create a social network that thrived on the idea of exclusivity, and Zuckerberg soon agrees to help. Shortly after, he tells his friend Eduardo Saverin (played by Andrew Garfield) that he has had an idea for a social network of his own, and with Saverin’s money and a promise to make him CFO, Zuckerberg begins work on TheFacebook.

As TheFacebook take off, the movie begins to intertwine with events from the future, notably two separate lawsuits against Zuckerberg, one by the Winklevoss twins and Narendra, and another by Saverin. In the Winklevoss suit, the three claim that Zuckerberg stole their idea, while Saverin’s lawsuit is based on his eventual removal from Facebook.

TheFacebook continues to grow, and within less than a year the site has gained over 150,000 members and is available on several college campuses, including Stanford, where Sean Parker, the founder of Napster (played by Justin Timberlake), discovers the site. Parker arranges a meeting with Zuckerberg, which sets in motion a chain of events that sends Zuckerberg to California, and eventually leads to issues with Saverin.

The Social Network

I planned to watch the social network when it is published, and after the class today, i got more interested in it, so I watched it immediately after class. I don't know which part is true and which part is made up a little bit for the movie effect. But it is a great movie. A person who did something so resounding is a miracle, and a film recording how he did this is attractive.

The best thing about it is that a man who is such a failure in social contact invented the best social network ever. Interesting fact!

He is so successful, that even get his ex-girlfriend who hates him so much to use facebook, but he is so unsuccessful because he is the guy who drove his girlfriend away at the beginning. That is exactly where is interesting. Without the failure in the relationship, he could not invented facebook, which was called facemash originally.

That is a wonderful life experience, but I don't want that.

GarageBand

This program was very hard to conquer. I love music but i don't know how to put it together. Luckily i did put it together. i love pianos so i incorporated that into the beat. i also incorporated hip hop and r&b beats because those are my favorite music genres. i sat in the library from 3 to 6:30 making this so i hope its as good as i think it is.

Insecurity

After finding out who your ex is, your new boyfriend is jealous and insecure. Why is that? Is it not clear that you'd rather be with them rather than with your ex? I don't understand how you can have a full conversation about how much they mean to you and how much you don't want to be with your ex yet they still withdrawing from you. I'm insecure about my weight but I wouldn't be insecure about my man's ex because its clear to me that it ended for a reason. Now, unless they were chilling and hanging out alot, maybe i'd be a little insecure but if not, why stress yourself?

a.d.d.

I have to write a paper for a history class by Thursday and I still haven't finished the book it's to be about. In class, Prof. Baldwin mentioned how we all have become attention deficit. Sooo true. Every time I go to pick up this book I check facebook. I don't even care about what people have posted and know that there isn't going to be worth while, but I still check it.
We talked about the Social Network in class as well this morning. I wonder if Zuckerberg knew he was creating one massive distraction for college students. I need to see the movie because I didn't really know what everyone was talking about in class today. I wonder why Facebook took off the way it did and Myspace died out. I think I still have my myspace, but I don't even know. It's pretty much the same concept; you create a profile and add your friends and you can leave messages on each other's pages and post notes and what not. I suppose the exclusivity of it only being Harvard students and then only college students made it more appealing. Either way, I'm beginning to wonder whether or not I have ADD, or if society has just made me this way. I'm sure if I wanted to focus I could, but I have so many distractions at my fingertips that it's so hard to do what I'm supposed to. Right now even, I'm not reading my book or writing my paper and distracting myself with this blog. But at least I'm one more blog post down.

Final Project Idea

With the date of our final approaching us Professor Baldwin has stated to us that it is our responsibility to start thinking of some possible ideas. While contemplating this, I came up with something that I thought would be particularly interesting. I was thinking that we have a backdrop, while the actors are performing their segment. On this backdrop we can play several different videos that the students have performed, all at one time. It will reinstate the idea of chaos, which we see present in Hamlet. It will also reestablish the idea of "a play within a play" which is presented to us in Hamlet.

Texture video

This is mostly all of my textures in around 1:30. The textures range from the beach by my house, to our campus, to books in the library. This is the first time I used iMovie, so I'm not that great, but now that I know how to use it, I'm definitely going to be exploring all different ways. Maybe one of these textures will be in one of our projects for the rest of the year but I'm definitely going to try and play with the program that we downloaded.

Frank Gehry

I'm not really a fan of many designers of buildings, but during a lecture we were looking at all these cool buildings, and a lot of them were of Frank Ghery's. After doing some research I've learned that he is from Canada and resides in Los Angela's. He's 81, but from what I've seen of his building he's of the hippest people around. His designs and building textures are just so cool and I would never have though to design any of them.

It looks like he builds many things out of either glass or metal (titanium.) Sometimes his buildings are very round but other times, like in Walt Disney, they look almost like 100 wings coming out of a building. When I look back at my sketchups I see that I kind of took on some of Frank Ghery's designs and this is maybe why I'm so interested in him.

while making some videos....

so i had to make a few videos here and there for this class and i was watching a loooonnnngggg clip my dad shot of the kids in the house dancing and thought this particular part was hilarious and thought i should edit it and post on youtube for my family back in pakistan. i thought it was funny and made me think of how innocent children really are and how they forget things so quickly and move on i wish we adults were more like kids in that aspect.
in the clip which i slowed down purposely. my niece is spinning in circles and then all of a sudden decided to tackle my nephew who is already fallen down. he then tries to escape her grasp but is unable too. in the meantime his brother comes and smacks his cousin on the back so she gets off of his brother. i think this is tremendous because he is the oldest out of the four and all he cares about is his little brother. the three smaller ones are all two while the biggest is three(the one wearing white pajamas)

playing with movie maker!

yeah so i thought we had to make a video of our time textures and so i edited this video with the textures that i have so far this video also has my own music in the back. i also think i did a good job with the effects there is only a few right now but ill be posting more!!!

Inspiration

Don Juan, a historical figure, who lives in 15's century, did many things that people may not give a applause, but it is exactly him that is prestigious in art circle, and many famous and talent authors are using him to create many great works. It is weird that such a person doing wrong should not leave behind a reputation, but why it happens? Guess because he gives artistic inspirations.

Inspiration is not like other things, actually most of things in art are created with inspiration, especially great works. Not like other field, people pursue accuracy, good-looking or rights. In art, people always want to see the truth. Don Juan is a truth. Maybe he is not good as other people, but he is real, and he is interesting. No matter the main character is good or bad, it reflcts the true scene that happening in our world, and make people think deeply about the world they are living in. I like the feeling too, that find interesting truth through plays and movies. They don't have to be perfect, but they are moving, and impressive.
