Gender roles of men in early to mid 20th century.

Men in the early to mid 20th century take care of the children by working and providing a home, food and comforts to them. They weren't forced to feel love towards children. They felt obligated towards them. Children were considered something that you had to do in order to be fulfilled. The woman's/mommy's job was to care for them by washing them, making food for them, taking them to school and anywhere they needed to go (if mommy drove, that is), tucking them in at night and reading them a story. Kissing the boo boo's wasn't daddy's job, it was mommy's. Mommy's job encompassed so many different things. Daddy's job was a lot different, maybe not any simpler but different still. Daddy was to go to work, fix things around the house, maybe go out for bowling with his friends once a week and to punish the children when they were bad. He just wasn't in the supportive role that mommy was. As the years go by and the gender roles change, daddy and mommy are on an equal playing field with the supportive nature, working and punishments. Some daddy's stay at home, some moms stay at home. Some women just do better in the workplace than the men do, some women can earn more money than their counterparts can. Sometimes the mom is the only parent and she takes on all the roles, sometimes the dad is the only parent and he encompasses everything. Some of the responsibilities may be pushed onto another person, such as a nanny or the eldest sibling of many children.
