Oedipus Contrast

I took this picture in Central Park. It doesn't seem so, but it reminded me of Oedipus the King. It's amazing how something as natural as the lagoon and something as representative of industry as the skyline contrast in this picture. Just as in this picture, there exists a contrast in Oedipus's personality. Oedipus who is so great as to solve the Sphinx's riddle and rid the city of Thebes of the monster's tyranny, can also commit such a vile atrocity as to have an incestuous relationship as well as murder his own father.
Just as industrial New York must coexist with a natural resovoir such as the one in the photo, Oedipus must come to terms with his fate and learn to cope with his destiny.
