Oedipus Rex City of plague response

As an undergrad at Stony Brook University I feel that the city of Plague in Thebes can be closely related to the city of plague in New York City. Thebes is a beautiful city but during this time it was very chaotic being that there is a plague going on killing many innocent people. Also there is an quote on quote “unknown” murderer running around on the loose who we later find out to be Oedipus.
Where in New York City this picture shows the real rough and treacherous sides of New York, instead of just showing the pretty glamorous side of New York with its beautiful lights, Stars and flourishing business that everyone is used to looking at on television. I wanted to open up everyone’s eyes so that we can look at the picture from two prospectives. One being that New York has some very nice parts but at the same time it have some very dispossessed areas.
