Theatre as a womb

I've worked in theatre since I was 14. The theatre is a comfortable place for me. When you are watching theatre you are supposed to be transported into another world. Another dimension in which you are completely submersed in the beauty of the word. It is supposed to be comfortable and warm. The house where the audience sits is dark like a woman's womb. The audience is fed by the spoken word as a baby is fed by it's mother. You feel fear, excitement, jolts and happiness as an audience member, the same way a mother's feelings can be felt by it's child. A child feels it's mother moving and how the mother feels and reacts to everything in it's surroundings. The audience can feel what the characters are feeling, if the actors are any good, and emphasizes with them and they act accordingly.
