You cant leash your kids forever

Have you ever seen this. During the summer your walking in the street and all of sudden you see a woman walking her children. I say that shes walking them because she has them on a leash as if they were dogs. The worst part is that when they do try to run a little, she yanks on the leash to pull them back. I find this very wrong. Kids are not animals and therefore should not be on leashes. I understand that parents are scared that their kids are going to run into the street and get hit by a car, but thats why you hold their hands at all times. Imagine when those kids are older and they see a picture of this. Theyre going to ask "Why did you have me on a leash?" and what is the mother going to respond? "So you wouldnt run away."
This can actually relate to Hamlet and his mother Gertrude. During the entire play she is trying to control him and tell him what to do. She tells him that he has to stop acting the way that he is. She is always trying to "leash" him and get him to do what she wants. When he starts to do something different then she will "yank" him back into his place.
Many parents tend to do this, even when their kids are adults themselves. Their excuse is "Im still your mother/father and you have to do what I say." But what they dont realize is that when their kids grow up they become their own person. Eventaually theyre gonna have to let go of the leash and pray that their baby doesnt run into trouble.
